Process and Control System
Performance Evaluation and Optimization
A Process and Control System Performance Evaluation and Optimization
typically consists of the following:
- Review process flowsheets and consult with operating personnel
to identify key process variables
- Review and evaluate control system instrumentation
- Collect process data to establish baseline product and process variability
- Analyze Process data using Time Series Analysis tools
to identify sources of excess process variability and
poor control system performance
- Perform open loop bump tests to evaluate control valve performance and
control loop design and to determine process models for controller tuning
- Adjust controller tuning, filtering, etc, if appropriate, to
improve control system performance and reduce variability
- Evaluate control strategy and investigate process design issues
- Prepare a report documenting the findings and recommendations
- Assist with implementing the recommendations if desired
